Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Can we retire in NYC?

I think you are good as long as one person continues working making 400k. I live in NJ and it is an expensive place to live.

Things to consider

1) Stability of job for one spouse working. If loses job job prospects and salary?

2) Are you sending your kids to private school or public? If public do research into counties/townships with best school systems and utilize them. If private you need to budget that in and can be less picky about above.

3) Are you guys handy? I used to say double the material for a job, but I think its approaching triple or more. Every service around here home related is super expensive.
