Agreed, though I would debate “remotely.” OP doesn’t need to do any of that. They can move the cash from NFCU to USAA via Zelle or ACH.Moving a checking account with various direct deposit and direct debit relationships in not “simplest.” Even remotely. The simplest solution is to open an Active Duty Checking or EveryDay Checking account at Navy Federal Credit Union and use a CO-OP ATM to deposit cash. For those of you who use USAA or a similar online bank... How do you deposit cash into your checking account?
Military Banking at Chase Bank is also a good option. No monthly fees, no minimum balances, and direct deposit of AD pay gets you some additional perks (e.g., free wires) not common at big B&M banks. They have a wide footprint as you noted. It was good enough for me to move away from USAA entirely.
For what it's worth, I have since moved all my banking from Chase to Fidelity due to better customer service and far better interest/dividend earnings. I still use NFCU for cash deposits.
