A Blue Cross/Blue Shield Fed Plan retiree here in Albuquerque. Spouse is now on Medicare and BCBS. I believe there are shortages of certain specialities such as dermatologists. Have not experienced any excessively long waits though for our limited needs. Had a broken fibula treated first in the emergency room, then an orthopedic center a few days later. Care was excellent, even at this large treatment center. There are several retina surgical organizations, heart, etc. BCBS offers a Navigator service that can shop around looking for available appts. for you. I use a nurse practitioner as my primary care physician and this has worked out great.
Would recommend regular Medicare and not a Medicare Advantage plan though due to billing and out of network issues experienced by some of our friends.
One data point…
