Personal Consumer Issues • My Choices of Dentist: one (too?) young, one (too?) old

I started going to my last dentist in 1974. Continued to go to him for the next 46 years until he retired in 2020.

I was extremely loyal going to him as after a few moves by me he ended up being about 25 miles from my house. That led to a simple teeth cleaning requiring 3 hours of time from when I left my house until I was back home.

Once he retired and sold his practice I had no interest in giving the new person a try. This was now the ideal time to find someone closer to home.

Mainly through Facebook private messages, I asked about 250 people for dentist recommendations. I actually received 80 responses.

I set up an Excel worksheet to note the number of recommendations for each of the many different dentists recommended.

I went with the one who had the most points, something like 9 total points.

Subsequent to going with the new dentist three other people have gone to him based upon my recommendation (I'm certain none of them did any other research. I think they all went by if I chose him then it was after proper due diligence.)

Myself and the three of them have been content with this choice. Plus, the major bonus for me it is the office is only about 6 minutes from my house.

His age? In the 40s?

In my search I do not think I had age as a criteria. Just looking for recommendations for who people were currently using as their dentist.
