Personal Consumer Issues • Credit Freezing

I've heard of others putting a freeze on their credit, presumably to assist in preventing credit fraud and ensuring a double check before new credit is issued?

I recently tried to do that with my Experian account and they want a fee for that. I forget the amount, but it was not trivial by most standards.....

What has been your experience with this please? THANKS
Experian has one of the most thuggish websites. Once you login, they will make it look as if you need to choose a membership type. Which you don't. You keep your free membership. Be very wary of clicking in the wrong place on their website. But you will get to the credit freeze portion and be able to freeze/unfreeze for free.
