I like what I see at https://www.rootfinancialpartners.com through their YouTube videos. I'm not sure what their fee structure is, but the services they provide look very helpful.
They ain't cheap at the lower fund levels:
—1% on the first $1,000,000 we manage
—0.75% between $1,000,000 and $3,000,000
—0.50% between $3,000,000 and $10,000,000
—0.25% on amounts above $10,000,000

We don’t get paid through any type of commission, kickback, or other undisclosed revenue sources. There’s no additional charge for the tax and estate planning advice we provide.

I also watch their videos. They are one of the few who are very transparent about fees. They now require at least $2 million dollars and I think both James (founder and the president) and Ari (vice president) no longer take new client but Ari still does the initial meeting. Another one is https://www.safeguardinvest.com/pricing. Their videos are also very good and at times very technical. They are cheaper at 0.6%. They are on my list of potential advisors when I became incompetent. I am currently using planvision.
Thank you everyone for sharing the links, I watched a few James Canole videos on YouTube and found them to be quite good. It is clear Root Financial has thought things through really well and I like their approach. James does case studies and these examples really help to illustrate the points he is making. If you do some searching around, you will find similar firms that have really cool websites and tell a really good story. As they say, the proof of the pudding is in the eating, so reviews are important. I think a lot of folks are trying to do the right things for a reasonable fee but there is no getting around that good advice can be quite expensive.

The other thing that I am realizing is that Financial Planning is getting to be quite complex. I am in the stage of preparing for retirement and am realizing there there are a lot of subtleties regarding Medicare and the tax law is getting increasingly complex, the IRMAA rules are a big trap. I have a fair amount of knowledge regarding insurance, tax, and investments but I am finding that navigating all of this is not so easy, no wonder there is a large Advisory industry. Another big issue is figuring out who you can trust, as they say, a little knowledge can be dangerous, there is incomplete and sometimes bad advice out there.
Besides Root and Safeguard, I also like
1) https://www.youtube.com/@TIAAsimplified (Only on TIAA)
2) https://www.youtube.com/@MCalcagno (One minus is that I could not find the fee schedule on its website. It says "After meeting together and determining if we will be a good match, we will outline a transparent fee schedule.")
3) https://www.youtube.com/@RetirementAnswers (He recently moved from a relatively big firm to start his own firm but I could not find a fee schedule on its website.)
4) https://www.youtube.com/@StreamlineFinancial (I could not find a fee schedule on its website.)
5) https://www.youtube.com/@yourfinancialekg (The videos do get repetitive but he does have videos for someone with a smaller nest eggs. I could not find a fee schedule on its website.)
6) https://www.youtube.com/@MedicareSchool (Not a financial advisor. It is about medicare.)
