If you're a member of DCU (or many other credit unions), your paper redemption would take under 1 minute and your funds would be immediately available. I've redeemed a $25 bond and a stack of $50k. Admittedly, the stack of $50k took longer than 1 minute because I had to sign every one of them while the worker entered them into the system. I think that took nearly 10 minutes.
