It sounds like someone randomly tried card numbers but didn't have the CCV so it didn't go through. Highly doubt that it was skimmed since you've never used it.
For everyone that keeps saying how dangerous having a debit card is, the fraud detection worked exactly as it was supposed to, and OP is out $0. This could have happened to a credit card too. Debit cards generally have the same exact protections as a credit card, and most big banks will issue a provisional credit within 24 hours of a card being compromised, so you aren't out a bunch of money for months on end.
As more businesses surcharge credit cards, people need to get used to either paying an extra 3% for the perceived safety of using their credit card or realize that debit cards are perfectly safe to use (though maybe not ideal from a points and cash back perspective).
