There is nothing in my post that imply grade inflation in GT. In fact, I do not speak of anything about grade at all.Grades are very inflated at GT? Quite the opposite. Grades are deflated. Any GT grad knows this, as do all the prominent employers recruiting there. And, why is that a problem?DS is at GT now and has really enjoyed his time. I will say that one downside of GT, which is the same for most publics, is that there will be a high percentage of instate kids and they will not be at the same academic level as the international and OOS kids. KeMy son who went into Computer Science was not a great student in high school. I live in Georgia and he likely could have gotten into Georgia Tech because admission standards are lower for in state students which are about 60% of the students admitted. He would have struggled a lot and started out low in his class and in retrospect realistically there is a good chance that he would not have graduated from Georgia Tech. One other thought - I hate looking at these choices solely from a ROI standpoint. Which school is a better fit for DD?
A) Are your kid more likely to work with a mix of normal people and smart people or only smart people?
B) Is the skill and capability to deal with smart people more important or the skill and capability to deal with normal people?
C) Are there more normal people out there or smart people?
One of the more important soft skill in life is to be able communicate and socialize with normal people. If someone only live and deal with smart people, can the person actually work well in a normal world?
There are always trade off....
