I wouldn't call anything a backdoor Roth myself. If a tree falls in the woods and there is nobody to hear it....I made non-deductible contributions in the 1980s. My Roth conversions didn't occur until more than two decades later. Were those backdoor Roths?I hope Ms Sanders addresses the unwarranted fears of "pro-rating" heaped upon us by math phobics. Also the common query about "I have 2 cents (well now it's 2 dollars) of interest earned since I converted, so what do I do now?"
Also asking the people interviewed: "Did you read the instructions for IRS Form 8606?" would be informative.
I would not consider that a backdoor Roth myself.
