Hi,

I'm planning a 2 week-long trip to London and Paris in May 2024 with my family of 4 (me, DH, 2 young adult daughters) and looking for a trip insurance policy. I've seen tripinsurancestore.com mentioned here and went to the site to get quotes. All of the companies that were recommended for me on that site have horrible reviews and many BBB complaints, etc, stating that they refuse to pay claims and they're a scam, etc. I've looked at a number of other companies and find the same - hundreds of 1 star reviews, with nothing good to say about any of them.

Does anyone have recent experience with a reputable trip insurer where you have actually had to file a claim and it was handled well? Any that you've had a bad experience with and that I should avoid at all cost?

I booked the trip with my Venture X card, which includes some trip insurance. Anyone have any experience with filing a trip insurance claim with Capital One? We won't be going to any remote areas or doing any dangerous activities, so I'm wondering if the credit card insurance is enough and a supplemental policy isn't necessary, especially considering that they rarely seem to pay claims anyway. Thoughts?

Any advice would be appreciated.
I've purchased a few different policies and made small claims and they've all been completely problem-free.

The thing about services like BBB is people only go there to complain, not to praise. (Nevermind lots of issues are truly fault of complainant...). A reputable company such as Allstate or Geico will have 1/5* ratings, because of selection bias.

My gutfeel is any policy you get will be okay (provided it has the coverage you need). If you are really worried, buy from a reputable insurer whose name you've heard of.
