When I bought my home, the Gutter Helmet guards had several large dents in them; I assume from storm damage. The cost to replace was as much as replacement. I opted to remove them and have the yard man clean the gutters.
Over the years, I have seen different neighbors use different systems, none seem to keep out the pine needles.
The only system I would use (but I am selling my house) are "flip gutters." Yes, it's as easy as it looks from my observation. https://flipcleanguttersystems.com
The other consideration is if gutters are needed. Here, where we get over 40" of rain, some homes are not required to have them due to the soil drainage. The county has mapped out each new home lot.
