Yesterday, I opened a new E Trade account - $150 for $1k, and I just got off the phone with Citi ti open the CPWM self directed account. $500 for $50k. For E Trade it's a 6 month hold and for Citi, It is essentially a 7 month hold.Nobody is forcing these brokerages to offer these bonuses. But it seems like offering a pretty fair rate, but locking up for a longer hold, has worked pretty well for RH during the 3% IRA promotion that's over at the end of the month. Correction: Technically CIti is a 3-4 month hold, but the bonus doesn't post until the 7th month, and I won't be bothered to move those funds until after the bonus posts.
