LoL, the guy from Public was still commenting on DoC as recently as November:
We also just launched a new ACAT transfer bonus which gives personalized offers based on your portfolio. In general, doing it this way let’s us offer better bonuses on average, but won’t be better than competitors if all you hold is a boglehead special ha

Check it out at public.com/switch

LOL again - I went through the Plaid rigamorale to have them make na offer and it was $1. :D
Nobody is forcing these brokerages to offer these bonuses. But it seems like offering a pretty fair rate, but locking up for a longer hold, has worked pretty well for RH during the 3% IRA promotion that's over at the end of the month. They something like tripped or quadrupled AUM over 3mo, and they will probably keep most of that at least last 5yrs (and most of it probably longer, people are lazy and retirement assets are sticky)
Yeah, it's a good time for brokerage bonuses. Yesterday, I opened a new E Trade account - $150 for $1k, and I just got off the phone with Citi ti open the CPWM self directed account. $500 for $50k. For E Trade it's a 6 month hold and for Citi, It is essentially a 7 month hold.

Correction: Technically CIti is a 3-4 month hold, but the bonus doesn't post until the 7th month, and I won't be bothered to move those funds until after the bonus posts.
Hi tj. How did you get Etrade to offer that up? The direct contact via phone posted online. Last time I checked with E*Trade when I was leaving them, years back when they merged the Morgan Stanley new accoun, the rep weren’t offering anything.
