The low AUM is one reason I'm just buying a share a month, I don't want to put any serious money into these until they seem sure to stick around, and none of it in taxable so no tax ramifications if they go kaput.
That said, I'm pretty confident Blackrock will keep these around, I really believe asset allocation ETFs and TDF ETFs will be huge in the future.
Their 2008 Target Date ETF series had about $310 million in AUM when shut down in 2014.
This 2023 Target Date ETF series has about $51 million after about 5 months.
It might be a good idea to track the AUM and number of shares over time, since lower AUM and slower growth makes a shutdown more likely.
