Personal Investments • Need medallion signature to move from UBS?

I'm helping my MIL move inheritance and random accounts all to Vanguard. One is an IRA with $20K at UBS. Vanguard needs paperwork and says to check with the current brokerage to see if medallion signature guarantee is required. Her broker isn't responsive. Their 84 page prospectus says "we may request a medallion signature guarantee"

Any ideas if medallion signature guarantee will be required? Thanks!

You can approach this in one of two ways...

1. Ignore the medallion stuff, submit the paperwork to Vanguard to invoke the transfer from UBS and see if that works.

2. Go and get the medallion signature guarantee at a local bank so the Vanguard paperwork will not have any reason to be denied by UBS, then submit it.

If the broker isn't responsive, waiting around for them to answer will just cause more delay.
