Personal Consumer Issues • At what point in a car’s life do you try miracle elixir fixes?

We just had our explorer diagnosed with the same issue this week… about $1900 to repair at an independent shop. It’s a 2018 with 75k miles so we are pretty disappointed. We chose to monitor the situation for now… it’s not leaking on the ground and appears to be very slow. The main downsides I could find with the stop leaks is that they need to be added every oil change once started and could potentially have a negative impact on other seals causing them to fail prematurely. I don’t know anything about AT-205 but am curious now.

I did talk this over with the mechanic and he was very agreeable to us just monitoring it until if/when it gets much worse. He was also not on board with using stop leak but didn’t explain.
