Personal Finance (Not Investing) • Automatic extension for tax filing if estimated taxes paid

I was reading the instructions for Form 4868 and it says I do not need to file for an extension to file taxes (extension deadline is October 2024) if I've paid part or all of my estimated taxes online.

I paid estimated taxes one of the quarters online using one of the IRS third-party vendors and my credit card. It was either for the third or fourth quarter.

Does this mean I do not need to file Form 4868 and can simply assume my deadline to file my tax return is now October 2024?

This is news to me ... I've been filing Form 4868 via paper mail all these years even when I've paid estimated taxes!
