I submitted my initial application last May and was finally approved in January, I'm getting impact windows which won't reduce insurance premium unless every opening qualifies, including garage (I'm not replacing the original solid wood 50's garage doors).Watch for when they provide new funding to the "MyFloridasafehome" program and then apply immmediately. They provide $2 for every $3 spent up to $10K funding for projects like these and windows/doors/roofing needs.
We qualified last year and it works out quite well once they have the new funding and you are approved.

My insurance savings has mostly been from the hurricane roof clips. I wouldn't have known about the roof clips except for the My Safe FL Home program. Even though my insurance company's estimate was something like $500 savings for installing roof clips and $2k for a new roof, it ended up being over $2,600/yr savings for installing the roof clips and only $600/yr savings for a new roof, go figure.
I am having my functional in good condition garage door replaced for $3450, I will be getting a $2000 credit. Right now I am getting $0 openings discount because my garage door is not hurricane rated. I didn’t want to change it but in 2 yrs time it will pay for itself.
